Welcome to Jack’s Bakery, an artisan, traditional Portuguese bakery located in Toronto. Jack’s specializes in breads, pastries and cakes, meals and pizzas. Quite simply, we make delicious Portuguese-inspired products that we want to eat ourselves. Our products are made with traditional, whole grain recipes, returning to the simple and healthy lifestyle. We sell a variety of daily artisan breads, as well as two special daily Portuguese breads: the famous “Pão de água” (water bread) and “Pão de milho amarelo” (organic yellow corn bread).
Since the opening on September 15, 2008, Jack has delighted Torontonians with modern dessert creations, exclusively from Portugal. Case in point are the famous Tentúgal pastries and Chilenos, among others. Today, the holiday offerings of many kinds of bolo-rei (traditional Portuguese fruit cake) and pão-de-ló (sponge cake) has become a highly anticipated treat. The core of Jack’s Bakery is the constant challenge to do better. No detail goes unnoticed and quality control is of utmost importance. Whether it’s a new pastry creation or an inspiration from a traditional one, Jack’s ensures that the products meet their highest standards.
Jack’s Bakery also has a quaint cafeteria, perfect for enjoying a cup of specialty coffee and a delectable dessert. If you are looking for something a little heartier, then try the variety of soups, hot specials, sandwiches and, new this year, our gourmet pizzas.
Jack Carvalho is the owner and inspiration behind Jack’s Bakery.
Jack has worked along side great names in the pastry and catering world since 1973.
He was a coordinator for the final exams of European specialties at George Brown College and was a health inspector coordinator at Fort McMurray on several Suncor Corp sites .
